Bottles and Cans and Lightbulbs, oh my!

January 12th, 2008 at 10:35 pm

When we went to the grocery store today, we returned some bottles and cans we had. We ended up returning $4.50 worth! We still have a few more to do; I can't believe we drink that much soda! We are usually really good about only drinking water, but latey we have been craving soda like crazy. Gonna have to watch it.

We also needed lightbulbs, so we bought a 3 pack of those energy-saving ones. They were $2 off the original price, and we want to convert all our lightbulbs over as they die, so this was a good place to start.

So, overall, another $6.50 to the challenge. Smile

In our old house, we replaced all the regular bulbs with the energy saving ones but never noticed an improvement in the electric bill. I figured if we were leaving less energy, even if it wasn't very visible, it was a good thing. We bought them at Sam's when they were about $17 for a pack of 8 of them and it took two packs to replace all the old ones. Ehhh, we'll do it again, I'm sure. Way to go!

I haven't really seen much of a difference with the energy saving lights either, but it may be because we leave most of them off during the day anyway. And when we first replaced them they didn't have any different types like the bathroom bulbs and track lighting. I believe they make them now so I'll have to replace them, too. Perhaps the difference will be seen then.

Congrats on the savings with the cans and coupon!
