Me-ow!

September 2nd, 2008 at 01:58 pm

We have 2 cats - Solstice, who is a 9 year old black and white part Coon cat, and Wolfie who is a 1 and a half year old gray and white kitty - and they both needed their yearly checkup.

We actually live right across the street from the vet and we got a coupon in the mail from them. It was for a FREE visit for a checkup on any cat or dog. And, it covered up to 2 pets. Yay!

Of course, I called right away, and took the babies in. Happy to report that Solstice is down to 13 lbs from 14. And Wolf (who you may remember weighed barely 3 pounds at 4 months old) is now up to 10 and a half pounds! LOL I think they need diet cat food.

But anyways, Wolf had some crusty stuff in her ears, so they checked it out in the lab and turned out to be just ear wax.

So, for the checkup on 2 cats, and the lab work for Wolf's ears, the total was $45. Yay! Smile

Kitty issues

Our kitten Wolfie had surgery about 2 weeks ago. She is still healing, but we noticed her wound was opening up. So we brought her to the vets today. Luckily, she is OK, and they said just to put a sock over her belly until it heals. Sheesh, talk about scary!

While we were there, we got her the last of the 3 shots she needed. So, now she is all up to date until next March. Yay!

Pet Care Spending: $54 for checkup and shots

Kittie is great!

Wolfie is doing fab after her surgery. She was grumpy last night, but who can blame her? She was up and playing this morning before I left for work. One bonus from her waiting til she was a bit older for the surgery? The woman had the vet give her a rabies vaccination and it only cost us $10. Yay for non-profit animal care! Smile

Quiet without the Kittie Monster

Tonight we had to take the Baby (aka our Kittie Wolfie) to get fixed. She is staying overnight at a friend’s house, then that friend is bringing her to the vet at 6 am tomorrow to get fixed. We’ll pick her up tomorrow night when I get home from work. Luckily, this is at no cost to us. The friend who is brining her is actually the woman we got Wolfie from. Usually, she makes sure all her cats are fixed before they go to new owners, but Wolfie was too small to get fixed when we brought her home. As a result, we had to wait a month until she gained enough weight. Since she should have been fixed before we got her, our friend is taking her when she brings in some other kittens, and it will be at no cost to us.

I’m going to miss her tonight! Hopefully she will calm down a little after this. She’s such a terror. The other night she was literally, trying to climb the wall. She torments our older cat all the time. I’ll miss snuggling up with her tonight, but this is the right thing to do and she’ll be home tomorrow.

Lots of wishes for a safe surgery for the baby!
