No Spender NO. 3

February 21st, 2008 at 03:14 am

Yes, another one. I'm thinking I won't make it to 10 this month, but even a few help. Smile

Hit 10 No Spenders This Month!

January 28th, 2008 at 11:57 am

One of my goals for 2008 is to have 10 No Spenders each month. This forces me to think about what I am spending money on, as well as when I am spending it, and if it is worth it to forgo the No Spend Day.

And, I am proud to say, yesterday, Sunday, I had my 10th No Spender for January! Smile

If I can get more than 10 a month, kudos for me, but my goals is at least 10. At the end of every month, I put $1 per No Spender into my savings account. I may be able to squeeze in one more before the end of this month, we'll see. But if not, I'm still happy. Smile

Friday No Spender

January 27th, 2008 at 09:51 am

Had another No Spender on Friday. Yay me! Of course yesterday, Saturday, was a spend day, with dinner for almost $40, meds for $40, and a stop to pick up some new to us used CDs for $20.

Gonna try to keep today as a No Spender.

Maybe I will get to 10 this month after all!

No Spender Holiday

January 23rd, 2008 at 07:02 am

I had Monday out of work for MLK day, but we just hung around the house all day. Did some cleaning, did some napping, just relaxed and enjoyed the day off. Was also a No Spender. Smile

More No Spenders

January 17th, 2008 at 05:37 am

Both Monday and Tuesday were No Spenders. Yesterday I had to stop at the store for bread and chips, but other than that, nothing. I may be spending some days, but I am getting much better on not spending on wants. Smile

My goals is to make it to 10 No Spenders a month. Sounds easy, but that means I need to be more organized and work on doing all my spending money errands on the same days (gas in car, groceries, post office, etc).

2 No Spenders in a row?

January 14th, 2008 at 09:17 am

We went out and did all the errands we had to do on Saturday (grocery store, post office, bus station...do you know they charged me $55 for ONE monthly bus pas??? It's not even good for 30 days, only until Feb 1st!!! We will NOT be buying one of those again, but just pay the $1.50 each time we need to take the bus!).

So, Sunday we hung around, played video and computer games all day, and had a realxing day. It was a No Spender for us. Smile

And today I am working from home because of the Nor'easter we are having right now: LOTS of fast snow with wicked high winds. I don't plan on leaving the house at all, so it should be another No Spender. I won't count it yet though, because with us you never know! Smile

Another No Spender

January 9th, 2008 at 09:12 am

Yesterday was kind of a No Spender for me. I did pick up 2 of my meds, so I had to pay the pharmacy for them, but they are a necessity, not a want. And not even a necessity I can out off for a few more weeks. So, even though I did spend money on them, it is budgeted for, and I kinda had to.

I also got a new book, but I had a gift card from X-mas, so that wasn't really spending either. Smile

But I did resist the cappaccino that was calling my name all day.

Go me!

Writing quizes

January 1st, 2008 at 04:31 pm

I just picked up a freelance job to write 6-8 question quizes. They can be on absolutley anything. I'm getting $50 fo writing 64 of them ($.75 each). Not a whole lot, but it will be fun, and I'll have plenty of time on my new commute to work on them!

Last night me and my BF went to dinner with my friend L. Then we hung at her house, played some board games. We came home early because it is a 45 minute freeway drive and we didn't want to be on the road with the drunks. Went to bed just after midnight. Not too exciting. I never liked NYEve anyways.

Today was a No Spender. Just hung around today and watched TV. It was raining all day, so I didn't mind. Starting to get nervous about the new job. Looking forward to it, though.

No Spend Day Dollars

December 29th, 2007 at 11:05 am

Toally forot to pay myself for my No Spenders in December. I've had 9 (so far) so it's $9 into the $20 Challenge.

$20/UF Old Balance: $64.32
December No Spenders: $9.00
----------------------------
$20/UF New Balance: $73.32

Just a few small things...

December 26th, 2007 at 06:59 am

Christmas was great. Got some great gift cards: Olive Garden, Barnes and Noble, and even one to Shaws along with a new cook book! Everyone seemed happy and like they had a great day. Hope everyone here did as well. Smile

In other news, my aunt passed away on Christmas Eve. She was in her early 70's but very sick with cancer. She'd been in and out of the hospital for a while, and hit a point where the chemo was actually doing her more harm than good. I wasn't very close to her, but am kinda close to her son, my cousin. I feel so bad for him and his family. Frown

And finally, a random thought, that X-mas Eve and X-mas Day were both No Spenders for me.

No Spend Thursday

December 21st, 2007 at 09:00 am

Yesterday was another No Spender. Well, I had to put gas in my car, but that is a necessity, so I don't really count it. Yay me for another one! Being unemployed and having NO income really helps curb that spending urge! LOL Big Grin

Wednesday Ramblings

December 19th, 2007 at 03:06 pm

Not much going on. Spent the day mostly looking online for some freelance work (there's very little right now). Listed a few things on ebay. I'm in a "Let's get rid of everything" mood, as well as a "Let's sell stuff because we need money" mood.

We also looked at 2 apartments today. Both are cheaper than where we are now, plus I'm sure quieter since we won't have the psycho neightbor next door. But I think I am spoiled by all the fancy features is this place. The others were OK; one was really cute, but there is no way we could fit everything we have there. We'd have to get rid of 1/2 our furniture, and I don't want to. I think we may keep looking...

Other than that, nothing much new. A book I ordered came in, but I am waiting til after X-mas to pick it up since I am getting a GC to the bookstore from Mums and Dad (they do one every year!). Today was a No Spender. Smile

No Spenders

December 18th, 2007 at 08:50 am

I have been MIA the last week or so because I am trying to process some info in my head. I've been having medical problems the past two years or so, and I was FINALLY just diagnosed with an illness. Still coming to terms with it, but at least it's not a tumor. Smile

Spending bit lately, but both yesterday adn Sunday were No Spenders for me. Yay! Smile Today I need to hit the grocery store and the post office, and other than that I am going to try to d no unecessary spending. Smile

Lazy Sunday

December 9th, 2007 at 01:47 pm

Not much going on money-wise today. At Mom and Dads, watching football, wrapping holiday gifts, and waiting for dinner. On the way home tonight I need to pick up my meds at CVS. This will be the first time I get them with my new insurance, so I'm not sure how much they will be. 3 of the 4 are generic, so they should be about $10 each. I think the non-generic one is around $25. I'm thinking should be about $60 for all of them. Let's hope it's not more than that!

Other than my meds (a very big necessity) today has been a No Spender. Now, just to get ONLY the meds and not the Twinkies I am craving at the store tonight... Smile

No Spenders!

December 8th, 2007 at 07:01 pm

Thursday and Today (Saturday) were No Spenders for us. Thursday I had to get some tests done, but there was no medical co-pay. Afterwards Mums and I went out to lunch (her treat...awwwww, she's so cool) then it was back here and a lazy night. Today I spent the WHOLE day on the couch in my PJs. There was an Americas Next Top Model marathon on, so I chilled out and watched it. A lazy day, but hey, at least I didn't spend any money!

I would love to hit 10 No Spenders this month.

No Spend Day

December 4th, 2007 at 07:36 am

Yay! Just realized yesterday was a No Spender! Smile Hopefully I can wrap up a few of these this month. I already know today will be a BIG spend day. I have so much to do:

*pick up meds
*pick up night/Day Quill for BF (he's so sick right now) Frown
*mail a book I sold on half.com
*pick up the last x-mas gift for my BIL
*get a new battery for our cordless phone (right now the battery lasts approx. 3 minutes. Ick. But it should be cheaper than a new phone. Hopefully. If not, then I'm getting us a new phone.)
*pick up a gift for BF that Mums wants to give him (luckily she'll pay me back for that!)
*pick up gift for friend A
*gas in the car so I can do all these errands since I am riding on fumes at this point

and then a whole bunch of other non-financial errands. Gonna be a busy day today. Which is kinda sad as I am in the middle of a awesome book and it is about 20 degrees (F) outside and I just want to curl up with my fave blanket and a cat and read all day. Actually, that's what I did yesterday. Smile

Anyways, I'm a little afraid to see how much the spending total will be today. But things have to get done. I'm sure you're all just dying in suspense to see how much I spend today, so I'll post my totals when I get home. Til then my financial buddies... Smile

Job hunting, eBay selling, and kicking arse!

October 29th, 2007 at 09:57 am

Well, looks like I may be getting 2 week freeance editing job. That would be awesome! Would take me up til the week before Vegas. Keep your fingers crossed!

And, I have an interview on Wednesday for a temp position. It's between 20-35 hours per week, at $15 an hour. I'm not sure fow how long they would need me. Wish me luck there, too!

Thing is, the more I think about it, the more I would just love to do freelance work from home full time. I don't know if it is possible right now. But at least it helps with bills til I find somethineg FT. Smile

Think I might join the gym today. It is $10 a month, and Mums offered to pay for me until I get a FT job again. How awesome is she?? I am getting close to my first mini weight loss goal of 10 lbs before Turkey Day. 3 weeks and 2.2 pounds left! Smile

And on a random side note, yesterday was a no spend day, plus I sold two books on half.com and listed some ebay stuff. Go me!

Money for Vegas from not spending!

August 22nd, 2007 at 05:16 pm

I have decided to work on my Vegas/$20 challenge via a tactic I know several people use here (Amber and Ima among others).

For every day I eat all 3 meals at home (Breaky, lunch and dinner) $1 will go into the Vegas Fund. Also, for every No Spend Day I have, $1 will go into the fund. So, here's where I am at this week so far:

No Spend Days: 2 = $2.00
Eating at Home Days: 3 = $3.00

Total added into Vegas Fnd: $5.00

Old Vegas Total: $518.42
SND/Eating at home: $5.00
-------------------------
New Vegas Total: $523.42
