Swapping Money for Health

June 17th, 2009 at 12:57 pm

Today I did it. Sucked it up and went back to WW. *sigh*

I hate paying someone to monitor my eating/weight, but it is the only way for me to stick to it.

Financially I got a good deal, though. No registration fee, and the monthly pass means I pay $40 each month. It works out to $10 a week, which is better than the $13 a week if you pay meeting by meeting. And BONUS: they are having a promotion right now. Sign up for the monthly pass, and you get your 2nd month free. So I basically paid $40 for the first 2 months, which works out to $5 a week.

Total savings: 64 over 2 months. Smile

Plus I rolled change from CITB yesterday and came up with $43.50 so I used that to pay for the WW cost. Yay! Smile

Shopping today

June 15th, 2009 at 05:24 pm

Did pretty good with shopping today. I got all my errands done (except joining the gym; will do that tomorrow), picked up some wants, and spent about $60. That is a great number for me!

Lunch out w/BF: $16
Dollar store: $9 (cotton balls, batteries (x2), coin rolls, thumbtacks, and 3 different collectible Strawberry Shortcake pens. I heart Strawberry Shortcake.)
Post Office: $10 (includes a half book of stamps & mailing 2 packages)
Petco: $21 (this was a splurge for us. We picked up 3 new fishies and a snail for our tank)

TOTAL: $56

Yay! Smile

Now to pay bills tongiht. Blah...

Car Repairs and a New Cookbook

January 29th, 2009 at 05:05 pm

I spent today. I knew I would. But I actually did better than I thought.

My car needed a ton of stuff fixed. $550 worth of stuff. I did save $10 with a coupon I had, so that was cool.

Other than that, I spent $17 on 2 new rugs and a new curtain for the bathroom. Love that outlet store! And I also picked up a cool new cookbook for $5. It uses all types of odd food for the meals. Like potato chip crusted chicken, or peanut butter thai burgers. When I try the recipes, if they come out OK, I'll share them. Smile

Almost a NSD

January 26th, 2009 at 08:20 am

Almost had a NSD yesterday. But the tummy got the best of me. Spent $20 on ginger ale, alka seltzer, tums, and power steering fluid for my car.

I know, last one doesn't really help my tummy. But I went to go to work last night and I couldn't turn my wheel at all. It had been making groaning noises all week when I turned it, so I figure my power steering fluid is going. Going to put it what I bought last night and hope it fixes the problem. $6 for power steering fluid is a lot better than a trip to the mechanic!

Today I am hitting the post office. I have about 5 things to mail out. After that, more packing and we are making a run to the new apartment with the dreaded books. Hit 20 boxes for 1 bookcase. Ugh. Still have 2 more bookcases to pack up.

$50+ from Ebay

January 20th, 2009 at 11:35 am

Last night 2 more of my auctions ended. These were for antique/vintage beaded purses from the early 1900's. Mums had been given them by her grandmother, but they didn't actually belong to her. They belonged friends of hers. Since they have no family value and Mums was cleaning out, she gave them to me. I never go out to fancy places and I have too many purses already, so I put them on Ebay.

One sold for $22.36 and one sold for $31! So that is another $53.36 for the Ebay challenge, which brings my total to $114.53! I hit my January goal! Yay! Smile

And I have 5 more items still in open auctions, so maybe I can get a head start on Feb's $100. Smile

In other news, I got a second ticket today. Yes, second. Let me explain: Last week I went downtown where it is all on street parallel parking. So I fond a spot between 2 cars and parallel parked. When I came back to my car, the other 2 were gone and I had a $15 ticket for parking in a bus zone. The bus zone was 10 feet in front of me, and, oh, what a surprise, a cop car was parked there. Jackass.

Since I was between 2 other cars I assumed I was safe. There is so much snow, you can't see the curb to tell if it is painted to indicated a bus zone. And there was a car further up than me. So, I said I'm going to fight this. I haven't had a chance to go to court yet.

Today I get pulled over because my car registration is expired (I had no idea). Damn it. That was a $100 ticket!!! But the cop was nice and said if I went and renewed my registration today, they disputed the ticket, the court would throw it out since I got new registration stickers the same day as the ticket. I went to the DMV right away, paid $38 for my new registration. And that ticked I am definitely disputing.

But I think I'll pay the $15 one for a little good karma to come my way. I'll need it to make sure the $100 ticket gets thrown out. Smile

I also stopped at the post office and spent $25 mailing out 8 packages. But at least I get shipping reimbursement for it all.

And then I spent $18 on groceries. We needed cat food, butter, and milk, and I picked up 2 bottles of ginger ale. I've got a tummy virus. Frown

Oh, and I found a penny today. New Pennies on the Sidewalk total: $.49

No Spender and a Big Spender

January 17th, 2009 at 11:02 am

Yesterday I had another No Spend Day. Whoo-hoo! Of course it was bitter cold so that just encouraged us to stay in the house and no go anywhere or spend anything. That makes 4 for the month. I would love to hit 10, but we'll see.

I made up for the NSD today by spending a LOT. Most of it was bills, and all of it was necessities. Spent over $220! But it paid the electric bill, gas bill, phone bill, and internet bill, plus included a few groceries (lunch meat, cheese, bread), Q-tips and allergy pills. I hate spending that much money, but I feel good that none of it was on wants. Smile

Still waiting to hear about the apartment...

First income for the Ebay Challenge

January 10th, 2009 at 08:17 am

Today I met up with the woman from craigslist who was buying movies from me. She ended up wanting 4, so I made myself $10. Who-hoo! Smile 2 others movies have sold on half.com, so when that DD goes into my account, I'll update my Challenge total.

I haven't decided what to do with this extra money. I would love to add it all to the EF, but I know in reality it isn't really extra since I am not getting a regular paycheck and I need to use it to live on. Most likely it will go into my everyday account. But I'll still track how much I make on here.

Yesterday was a NSD. Smile That's 3 this month. Whoo-hoo! Today will be a low spend day. I bought 2 huge jumbo oranges for breakfast this morning. Spent $1.71 I also needed to pic up batteries for my camera to take pics for Ebay stuff. I bought 4 batteries, rechargeable generics from CVS for $10.49 Total for the day: $12.20 Hopefully this will be all I spend today.

Thursday Spending and CC payment posted!

January 9th, 2009 at 08:39 am

Did pretty good yesterday in terms of spending.

IHOP was so yummy. I had 2 eggs, 2 slices bacon, 2 sausage links, and 2 crepes. The crepes had nutella, bananas, strawberries, and whipped cream. So not healthy on my diet, but at least I had fruit! Smile BF got eggs, pancakes, hash browns, and bacon. Total for the 2 of us was $20.66, but after my BOGO coupon, the total was $13.51 Makes me happy!

We also stopped and picked up cigars for BF and a few things at the Dollar Store. Oh, and put gas in the car. Total spent for the day was $45.08

Hoping to make today a NSD as well. We are going to Mums to do laundry later this afternoon, and I think I may hang out with a friend, but I don't see us needing to spend $ on anything.

When we were in the cigar shop yesterday I found a dime and a penny. Jingly jingly! New Pennies on the Sidewalk total: $.37

Yesterday I signed up for the 2009 MS Walk. I think most everyone who walked on my team last year is going to walk again, so that is cool. And I got my first donation: $50 from an old friend of mine. Wait, the friend is not old, I've just known her for 19 years. Smile Plus my Mums' cousin emailed me and said he is mailing a donation so that rocks, too. Smile

Oh, and my payments to my LBCC posted, as well as the $29 credit for late fee waiver. New LBCC balance is $889.21 I may just get that one paid off this year! Smile

Didn't spend, but I earned!

January 8th, 2009 at 10:29 am

It was a struggle but I managed to make yesterday a No Spender. When I was filling in my spending excel sheet, I saw that one day last week I also had a No Spender. I bought a coffee at DnD that day, but used a GC so it counts as a NSD for me. That makes 2 this month and it is only the 7th! Yay!

Would love to hit 5 this month, maybe even the long shot goal of 10...

Not today though. BF and I have been having a massive IHOP pancake cravings for a couple of weeks now. We have been holding off and I'm glad we did. They are now running an all you can eat pancake special, plus I found 6 coupons in the mail this week for buy one meal get one free! So tonight we decided to have IHOP pancakes for dinner. Yummy!

Last night I worked at the tarot store. Had a decent night. 3 readings, 2 over the phone and one in-store, and they were all 30 minute readings. Brought home $71. Yay! Smile $6 of it was in singles, so they went into my personal allowance and the rest is waiting to be deposited at the bank.

Happy Thursday everyone and Happy Elvis Birthday!

Cheap Prescriptions and Aiming for a NSD

January 7th, 2009 at 09:57 am

We are having an ice storm here, and so I have decided I am staying in all day. We don't need groceries or anything else, and we really need to not spend any money on wants. We haven't had a NSD in a while, I am aiming for one today.

I am going to watch tv, play my computer game, read, and maybe even nap a little later. I do have work later, but assuming the ice storm goes on I won't be going in. It's stinky, cuz I need the money, but at the same time I'm kinda OK with it. I have been having massive headaches and body aches the last few days.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Got a letter in the mail telling me the cost of prescription meds for MassHealth. I don't know if this means I will be approved or have already been approved for MassHealth, but I hope so. With COBRA my meds are:
P - $40 a month
W - $10 a month
T - $5 a month
N - $10 a month
C - $25 a month
for a total of $90 a month. With the MassHealth plan, it looks like my meds will be much better prices:
P - $4 a month
W - $2 a month
T - $1 a month
N - $2 a month
C - $4 a month
for a total of $13 a month!! $77 a month savings!! Let's hope this applies to me and I get MassHealth soon! Smile
Little Bits
January 3rd, 2009 at 06:54 pm
A few random little things that didn't really warrant a whole post for themselves...
Found a penny today at Walgreens. New (2009) Pennies on the Sidewalk Total: $.01 I also found a quarter when I was cleaning yesterday and a dime in a bag I pulled out to use for the first time in months. Not going to count it in Pennies since it was my own money I found, but I did throw it into Cash Into the Bag.
Speaking of CITB, I rolled up quarters, pennies, and dimes (not enough nickels to roll), and came up with $18. I'll deposit that Monday into my $20 Challenge account.
Also going into my $20 Challenge account Monday will be a check for $10 that I got from doing surveys. Yay!
I also have a check from BF for about $9 to deposit. Not sure which account that is going into yet.
Used a $25 gift card at Michaels today. Bought a bunch of new charms and beads. Can't wait to make some new jewelry and sell it online! Smile
Quick run to the store before the storm
December 19th, 2008 at 09:04 am
Waiting in that massive snow storm to hit today. Yay! Snowed in for the weekend! Smile
Headed next door to Walgreens to pick up some things: lunch meat, cheese, Advil, allergy meds. Came to $26 (!!) AND I used 2 coupons and got $4 off. Yes, the $26 was after the coupons.
BF has been craving bagels, so I stopped at DnD and picked up half a dozen. $5 and I know I could have gotten them much cheaper somewhere else, but with the storm coming I just wanted to get home ASAP and I really didn't want to deal with panicked New Englanders buying bread and milk. Yup, for some reason, when a storm hits, we buy bread and milk. I have no idea why. And no, I didn't buy any bread or milk (well, I got bagels) because we already have plenty in the house. Smile
I found a nickel and 2 pennies while I was out, too. New Pennies on the Sidewalk Total: $2.17
Holiday Party Was Fun
December 14th, 2008 at 07:49 pm
Tonight we had our holiday party for work. It was actually a lot of fun. We had a room to ourselves and a private buffet at a really good chinese restaurant.
BF and I didn't participate in the Yankee Swap, but there were other people who didn't either, so I don't feel bad. Overall we spent $14 on drinks and tips. Not a bad deal at all. And it was lots of fun. Smile
Well, I managed to get a few things done from my massive list. Tomorrow I need to tackle some more.
Oh, went to the movies with sister on Saturday. Ticket was $7, and didn't spend any other money. Movie was OK.
Later gaters.
Feeling Better, Thanx Everyone!
December 9th, 2008 at 09:27 am
I am feeling much better today. Thanks to everyone for you kind words and encouragement.
Today is relatively low-key. I have some stuff to get done around the house, then need to take BF to work later tonight. I think I am going to an Overeaters Anon. meeting tonight. I think it will give me a boost to get healthier and loose some of this horrid weight.
I think today will be a low spend day. I have to fax something, which will cost a couple of bucks at most. I also need to hit the grocery store, but I am limiting that to $30.
Last night I stayed up wicked late (3am) but I got some writing done. Also cried a lot and smoked a little to calm down. I feel much calmer today. Still can't find the $10. Frown
Oh, but I did get a $3 payment from Pinecone for a survey I didn't even realize was a paid survey! Smile I'm adding that plus some change to tally up my EF to an even number. Smile
Old EF Balance: $36.14
Pinecone: $3.00
Tayy Up: $.86
-------------------------------
New EF Balance: $40.00
Bad F***ing Day
December 8th, 2008 at 12:27 pm
Bad bad day today.
1st: Lost $10. I had $83, I gave $3 to BF, $15 to therapy, $5 at DnD, $9 to post office. I should have $51 left, but I have $41 left. Not making me happy.
2nd: In order to qualify for SSDI, I can't work for 5 months. At all. This includes me 4 hours a week at the Tarot Store. How the F*CK am I supposed to survive with NO INCOME for 5 months??? But here's the kicker: when I am approved for SSDI, I can work part time and earn up to $900 a month from a job. WTF??? So I may have to give up the tarot store, just when I am starting to build my own client base.
3rd: Holiday season. I like Christmas and Yule, but not the whol holiday season. I have seasonal depression, which means the short days and long nights makes me very depressed. Add to the the fact the I get depressed and feel alone (even with friends and family) during the holidays, and it gets even worse. Today is a Bah Humbug Day.
Ended up spending yesterday
December 6th, 2008 at 07:18 am
$25 on dinner. I know, I know, shame on me.
And I didn't make it to the fax place.
I had a lazy day. Smile
Today Mums and Dads are coming up and we're going to lunch...very fun! Smile
Happy Thursday
December 5th, 2008 at 10:32 am
Yesterday was a pretty good day. I had a No Spend Day, YAY! My first one in December.
I just hung around the house. I made a batch of brownies with vanilla frosting. Very yummy and cured my chocolate/sweet craving. Plus, the bonus is it was homemade and I didn't spend any money at DnD on donuts. Smile
I also got some writing done, which I haven't done in a while. Not on my book, but on a piece of fiction based on an ex of mine (no, not the one I dreamed of) and an old friend of mine.
And I made a few pieces to put on Etsy! I made a quartz crystal pendulum and matching quartz crystal necklace. I'll put some pics up. Today I need to remake an amethyst necklace and make the matching pendulum.
I want to get some more up on Ebay today. I have a Lizzie Borden bobble head, 2 antique (early 1900s) beaded purses, and a bunch of Strawberry Shortcake stuff.
The only thing I have planned for today that will take money is to fax some stuff (2 pages) and head to the library (not sure if books are overdue or not).
So yeah, that's a peek into my Happy Thursday yesterday and my day today. Exciting, isn't it??? LOL Smile
Tuesday
December 3rd, 2008 at 08:01 am
Yesterday was a pretty good day. Spent way too much money on eating out. $12 at DnD for lunch for me and BF and then $20 on dinner for the both of us. Not a huge amount, but we shouldn't have spent any at all. I do need to go to the grocery store today, though, so there will be no more eating out for a bit.
Ended up getting called into work last night for a few hours. I like working Tuesdays, since that is a day BF works there so we get to work together. Made $50. Yay! $20 will go to savings, $20 to Mom for the laptop, and $10 for me for the week. Also working tonight, so hopefully I can make another $50 or so!
Picked up 3 meds yesterday; $60. I'm still waiting to hear about MassHealth. Will be a couple of weeks I think.
Wow, just reread what I wrote...kinda boring! LOL Maybe I'll have more exciting news later. *smile*
Hi all
November 30th, 2008 at 09:40 am
Hello. Well, I haven't written much in the last few days because there just hasn't been much to talk about.
Just transferred $50 from my paypal account to my bank account. Profts from selling itmes on Ebay. I also have a few other thinks I found that I want to get on Ebay soon.
I've spent some money over the last few days, but not too much. I spent about $14 at CVS, but the original total was $30 an I saved with ECB. Yay! And then, with what I purchased, I earned another $15 or so in ECB. I think I will use ECB to get stuff for BFs stocking. Probably lots of candy. *smile*
Hmmm, what else. Nothing really. Working tonight so hopefully I will bring home a couple bucks. It's been slow at the store. I guess a combination of the economy and people saving their money for holiday shopping. But I do have to say, it cracks me up when people pay $30 a week to get tarot readings to ask when their finances are going to get better. Ummm, maybe if you didn't spend $120 a month on tarot readings...? But hey, I really can't complain as their money is what pays me. *smile*
I spent...
November 26th, 2008 at 08:03 pm
...again. *sigh* I'm not going to go into the long story, but I spent $40 on a necklace. I'll just say it is one I saw, literally, 9 years ago for about $100 that I wanted, but I didn't buy. I have regretted it ever since and have looked for it ever since. Turns out a girl I work with has the exact necklace and sold it to me for $40. Totally worth it to me, and I figure it is a nice holiday gift to myself.
Worked tongiht and earnerd $22. Then, we spent $20 on dinner tonight.
And I bought a coffee and bagel. $5.
*hanging head in shame*
In other news, I had an appointment today to apply for MassHealth. Seems easy enough, and since I am not working right now (except that tarot store) the guy I met with said I should get it. Let's hope so. Even if I have to pay for it (some people qualify for free health insurance through MassHealth) it will be substantially less that I pay now with Cobra. Yay for government sponsored health insurance!
Happy Turkey Day, everyone!
Money went out, but more came in
November 25th, 2008 at 07:38 pm
Today was again an almost NSD. I had my appointment today to start applying for SSDI. I'm working with a non-profit (kinda) that acts as your advocate, lawyer, etc. They do all the paperwork, all the filing, everything. They are partially a non-profit in that they only get paid if you get approved for SSDI and get a retro payment to cover the months you didn't earn anything while you were waiting for the SSDI decision. IF I get approved, I'll get around $750 a month, be eligable to earn up to another $900 in a part-time job. The fee (if I have to pay one) will be $1,000. Definately worth it to me. At any rate, I did have to pay a $20 fee today to the company for filing fees and fees they need to pay to get copies of my medical records.
I also spent $2.52 finishing up a holiday gift for my friend A. Just a small finishing touch.
So, not quite a NSD, but spending in a worthwhile way. *smile*
This afternoon I got a call from the tarot store asking me to cover a shift tonight. Of course I said yes. Made $48, brought home $45.48 after picking up the items for A. So this puts my new total towards holiday shopping at $45 (I spent the other $20 from Sunday on the appt fee today). Not bad, and I am working again tomorrow. *smile*
Happy Tuesday everyone!
Ugh, spent today
November 24th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Had a ton of errands to do today, and unfortunately spent some money.
Here's what I did:
Gas in car $23
Therapy $15
Library Free!
Post Office $1.68
Linens and Things $20
Grocery Store $87
Ugh, that's a lot. Everything except Linens and Things was a need. And I only stopped there because they are going out of business and I got a great deal. I got a new bath pillow. The ones I always get at the Dollar Store that you blow up always get popped or broken. This one was on sale for $11 and it is spongy and squishy. Can't wait to use it tonight in the bubble bath! I also got a new soap dispenser for the bathroom, since ours broke when we moved back in March. This one is so cool: it was $20 on sale for $5 and it has a clock on the front that really works. Very handy since we don't have a clock in the bathroom. And finally I got a packet of 4 reusable herb bags. They are great to fill with herbs and then dump in a hot bath. It holds all the herbs but lets them seep into the water. Then you just rince it out and let it dry. I'm actually going to fill one with a mix I made and add it to my friend A's holiday gift since she loves baths as much as me.
I am still waiting to get paid for the Azteca Dunnys I sold on Ebay, but the buyer emailed me and said payment would be here in a few days, so I am cool with that. Profit on the other Ebay sale was $4.81 I'll probably just use that to cover my Ebay fees and let the money from the Dunnys be all profit.
And another book I listed on Craigslist looks like it will sold. It's a signed First Edition Anne Rice book. A guy emailed me about it today and he lives in the same town as me, so it looks like it will go through. That will be another $15. *smile*
OK, off to grab a snack and then have a hot bubble bath! Happy Monday everyone!
Extra Income
November 23rd, 2008 at 07:45 pm
Today was a pretty good day. I slept late, then watched the football game (Pats won, yay!), then headed over to the tarot store to work. I made $50 tonight. Happy. Smile
$18 went to gifts for the BF for Christmas (one gift and 2 stocking stuffers). He's done now except a few small things for his stocking which I will pick up at the Dollar Store and with CVS ECBs. Left me with $32. $12 is going into my pocket to join 3 singles I had for my co-pay at therapy tomorrow, and $20 will be for other people's holiday gifts. Feeling good about how little I am spending this year, while stiff giving some fantastic gifts.
I also sold 2 of my 3 Ebay itmes. Yay! One went for $2.99 plus sipping and the other for $41 plus shipping (that was my Azteca Dunnys). I'll give exact totals when I figure in shipping and Ebay fees, but it looks like I should come out around $30 ahead in profits. More for holiday fund. *smile*
Although I spent for BFs Christmas gift, it was otherwise a NSD for me. And a hard one. We are really low on groceries and had to scourage for meals today. Would have been so easy to order out or just run next door to Quiznos or DnD. But, I refused. Breaky was left over Mac and Cheese, lunch was a giant salad with cottage cheese, and dinner was a grilled cheese sammy and a can of soup. But man, am I craving sushi! *smile* Tomorrow I'll pick up a few groceries (lunch meat, cheese, pasta, bread, milk) but it will be a small shop and shouldn't be too expensive.
Wicked ramblings
November 21st, 2008 at 08:20 pm
Had a pretty busy day money-wise today. I got my freelance check, finally! Wahoo! And I submitted my last invoice for my freelance job today, so now I am waiting for this new freelance check. It is for $500. But I got the big $1,100 one today, so I'm very happy.
I also picked up my meds. Only $18! I love Walgreens! They $4 generics have saved me more than I can count.
Earlier in this week, I posted about a book I had listed on Craigslist: a first edition of Wicked. Someone wanted to buy it, but we were trying to figure it out b/c he didn't want me to mail it, and I wasn't going to go into the city to meet him. I really thought it would fall through. But today he came to the town I live in and we met at the T station (the subway). Paid in cash and a happy exchange was made. $25 for me. $18 went to my meds and the other $7 went into my pocket. Actually, it only went into my pocket until I got home, and then it went into the Holiday Gift Fund.
I also picked up 2 holiday gifts today. Both books, both for half the cover prices on half.com and brand new. Total for the 2 books plus shipping was $27.71 One is for my best friend A and one is for my BF. The book will be the only thing I get A, since it is a big and usually expensive book. BF will get a few other small things since the book was very inexpensive. Dads is half done. Got him a Life is Good golf t-shirt and golf towel. Still need to pick up a GC to his favorite cigar shop. Mums isn't done yet. Getting her a CD and a DVD, so I am waiting for Black Friday when they will all be really cheap. Same for BIL, he's getting 2 DVDs I will pick up on Black Friday. Sis is half done, some Elvis stuff. I am also knitting her some fingerless gloves now that I know how. About half-way done with those. And then I need to knit a pair of gloves for my best friend L. And that's it for holiday shopping. Not a big list, and with making things this year it makes it less expensive and more personal.
Found a penny on the ground today, but it was a Canadian penny. What's that equal to now, 2 or 3 of our pennies? *smile*
Too much
November 18th, 2008 at 05:46 pm
Ate way too much food today. Spent way too much money today.
Can't wait til tomorrow to start over again.
Bits and Pieces and Rambles
November 15th, 2008 at 01:46 pm
Let's see, where to start...
Foun 11 cents on the sidewalk yesterday. New Pennies on the Sidewalk Total: $1.92
Had to pick up shampoo and conditioner this week. Stopped at CVS, and I have discovered Extra Care Bucks! The type I like to use is usually $4.99 each. We only buy it on sale or with coupons. Otherwise we use a $.99 one. The ones we love were on sale for $2 off each one. Bought 2 shampoos, 2 conditioners, at 2.99 each, but then, I am getting $8 ECB back. Works out to $.99 each. VERY happy with that! I also had a coupon for $2 ECB, so I picked up 2 giant candy bars at 2/$2. Free candy to satisfy our sweet cravings!
I also headed over the the Dollar Store. Ours has really good cake mix for $1 a box. For some reason, BF and I have been having REALLY bad sweet cravings, so I figured I'd make a cake for us this weekend. But, when I got there, I found they had cake mix, brownie mix, chocolate chip cookie mix, and banana nut bread mix. My parents do Thanksgiving for us, and me and my sis always bring deserts. So I picked up 1 brownie mix, 2 chocolate chip cookie mixes, and a banana nut bread mix. I'll bring chocolate chip cookies for Thanksgiving, and the banana nut bread for Christmas. And bake brownies for us. *smile*
What else...had some coupons for some great items at Walgreens. I was able to pick up a bunch of things, like baby wipes (we use them to clean our long-haired cat), a 5 lb bag of Sugar (for $1.99!), disposable baking pans (we don't have any so I can use these for all our cake mixes), drink mix (we only drink that and water), dish soap, vitamins, and a holiday gift for BF. And the total was high enough that I was able to use the $5 off a $20 purchase. Yay me for using the coupons. You guys are such a good influence on me! *smile*
I was supposed to work tomorrow from 5-10, but I got a call from my "boss" today. There is an all day psychic expo going on tomorrow, from 9-5. He asked if I wanted to do that instead. It means I will work at a reader for 9 hours representing the store with a few other readers. GREAT chance for some big money, plus it will get my name out there to new clients. I am SO excited he asked me! Being still fairly new there (I've only been a reader there since this summer), this is a HUGE deal and a major compliment. Kudos to me! Let's hope I make some major cash! *smile*
Brought home some cash
November 13th, 2008 at 09:47 am
Worked at the tarot store last night. Ended up bringing home $40. Makes me happy. This means while our checking is still at $70, my personal cash total is up to $50. BF gets paid tomorrow, so there will be another $25 or so in the checking. I have therapy today, so I'll use some of my personal cash to pay the $15 co-pay.
I managed to make yesterday another NSD. It was hard. I was craving coffee while I was at work so bad. But in the end, I ate the crackers I brought with me, and then had dinner when I got home. Yay me!
Today I have therapy, plus I need to put gas in the car, so it won't be a NSD. I might treat myself to a $2 coffee. Since I have to spend on necessary items today, it won't ruin a NSD, and it is just a small amount. Of course, this is the kind of dangerous thinking that got me where I am, but I think I can restrain myself. *smile*
PS, still waiting on the freelance check.
Up $5.76
November 12th, 2008 at 07:30 am
Yesterday before BF went to work I have him $5 of my last $10 in case he needed soemthing to eat. No big deal.
But yay! When he got home, he gave me the $5 back, plus 76 cents. Turns out he found $4 in his wallet and didn't need my $5. Then he gave me his leftover change from his purchase.
What a sweet BF! LOL
In other news, yesterday was a NSD for me! Yay! This is 2 this week. I haven't had one in so long, but it is a great feeling. *smile* Planning on today being one as well.
I work at the tarot store tonight. Hopefully I have a few good clients and a few good tippers. I'd love to come home with $50 or so.
Heading to the library this afternoon. Need some more books to read. *smile* Also, trying to enjoy all the free entertainment I can.
Happy Wednesday everyone!
Found a dirty dime
November 11th, 2008 at 02:28 pm
Walking to the car today, I noticed a pebble in the same shape and size and perfect roundness of a dime. Of course, I stopped to check it out, and was a dime! Pretty much in a pile of dirt, but hey, a dime is a dime. *smile*
Cash flow is OK right now. Gave BF $5 of my last $10 cash for him to get something at work tonight. I'll just have a few leftovers for dinner. Big imporovement, since normally when BF is at work I use it as an excuse to order out or get take-out. Not tonight, though. We have $70.11 in the checking account, and all bills are paid. I'm refusing to spend it on extra food, since I picked up about $60 worth of groceries yesterday morning and we have plenty to eat in the house. Plus, I am really enjoying the fact that so far for me, it has been a NSD and I am determined to keep it one!
Just waiting on that stupid freelance check now!
Happy Veterans Day and thanks to everyone who has severved!!!!
Spendy Sunday
November 10th, 2008 at 09:36 am
Well, I did it. Saturday was a NSD!!! NO donuts for me! LOL
Yesterday (Sunday), I did a bit of spending. Woke up Sunday morning with nothing for breaky in the house, so we went and got some bagles and coffee (4 bagels, cream cheese, coffee, $12). Then, I met up with a friend for lunch. Spent $15 there. Not a good day money wise, but it was a fun day and I got to see a good friend. Spent the rest of Sunday at Mums and Dads watching the game and then they treated us out to dinner. Awww, such awesome parents.
And today. So far, so good. Went to the bank, then went to the grocery store this morning. Spent about $60, but that will last us 3 meals a day for at least the week. There should be no eating out this week, at all!
Only other plans are looking for work (what else is new) and hitting the library for some books re: applying for disability. Hopeing to get some work done on my own book I am writing right now, but I just don't have the motivation. Maybe tonight.
