Money Luck

February 28th, 2009 at 08:28 pm

Seem to be having a streak of good luck when it comes to money lately. Just small things, but we all know small things add up!

Besides all the jingly I have been finding, there have been a few other fun things:

1. Christmas 2007 Mums and Dads gave us a $25 gift card to The Olive Garden. We used half of it one day for lunch. Fast forward to this week and we went to use the rest of it, and there was a full $25 left on it. I still had the receipt from 2007 wrapped around it from the first time we used it. No idea how it regenerated itself, but it was a great surprise!

2. Stopped at Burger King on the way home from work. Ordered 3 Whopper Jr's for the 2 of us. When they did the order, they only did 2. I went back and ordered a 3rd and they said they were doing end of the night totals on the register, so don't worry about paying for it and gave it to us free!

3. Got a check in the mail from the rental company for our last apartment. Check was interest earned in the last months rent we gave them when we moved in a year ago (had to give them first and last). We earned over $50 interest! That will go into the EF asap.

4. Visited my great aunt today. Saw she was reading a book I want to read. Asked her how it was, and she said she hasn't started it yet. Then she gave it to me. Pretty much forced it into my hands and insisted I take it even when I told her I couldn't. Free book!

Let's see what tomorrow brings! Smile

Half.com DD

February 26th, 2009 at 02:36 pm

Got a DD into my checking account today for some sales from earlier in the month on half.com. $34.42. Smile

Haven't been able to put anything aside the last couple weeks, so this is going into my EF. I really want to put it into either personal or couch savings, but I know how important the EF is right now.

$20 Challenge/EF Old Balance: $150.04
Half.com DD: $34.42

Started to get back into my routine...

February 26th, 2009 at 08:38 am

Hi everyone! Ugh, these last 2 weeks have been crazy. But I'm finally starting to get back into my routine. Smile

I don't have much to report finance wise. Money is tight with the moving expenses. Work has been dead slow...literally, only 1 client a night, bringing home like $11 for 4 hours of work. Savings has taken a hit since there hasn't been a lot of income. Haven't been selling online cuz I can't find anything...Smile

Hoping to get caught up with everyone else's blogs this weekend. It's good to be back! Smile

I love change

February 25th, 2009 at 01:23 pm

In the last 2 days I have found another $.24 on the ground. $.21 at DnD and $.03 at Burger King.

New Pennies on the Sidewalk total: $1.65

I'm still working in unpacking and recovering from moving. Will post more soon. Miss you all!

Major Jingly!

February 22nd, 2009 at 09:50 am

Had an awesome day yesterday when it comes to finding money in the ground! I found $.31 from 3 places!

In the Walgreens parking lot, a dime and 15 pennies!!! Someone sure was too lazy to pic them all up, but not me! Then another penny at the post office, and in front of Burger King, another 5 pennies!

Mums said an old saying is that angels throw pennies at you to get your attention, so when you find pennies on the ground, it means angels are near you. I had a whole army of them with me yesterday!

New Pennies on the Sidewalk total: $1.41

12 cent find!

February 16th, 2009 at 01:43 pm

Found a dime and 2 pennies on the ground in the last 2 days. I think I am getting obsessed about this; I had a dream that I found 3 dimes, and of course, I picked them up. Smile New Pennies on the Sidewalk total: $1.10

New HOME

February 15th, 2009 at 05:55 pm

Today was moving day and we survived! Got all the furniture and big stuff from the old apartment and into the new one. Still have some small things in the old apartment and some cleaning to do there. But our least there doesn't end until Feb 28th, so we have 2 weeks to get it finished.

I have lots to catch up on, both posting and reading, but I'm exhausted. Will catch up on the blogs tomorrow. Night all and happy sunday! Smile

Suicide appliances

February 11th, 2009 at 09:05 am

Last night when I was cooking our coffeemaker got too close to the oven and the front of it melted. None of the buttons work anymore, which means I can't program it or even turn it on. Frown

Two nights ago out alarm clock gave out. The metal foot of our bed frame was sitting on it and cut through the wires. Lucky it didn't start a fire. Had to throw it away. Frown

Electronic items tend to break around me or get messed up. Usually we joke and say it is because of all my psychic energy. This time it was just plain stupidity on both parts.

I just got a $25 GC for Target in the mail from MyPoints. I was going to use it for something nice for the new apartment, but it looks like I will be using it on either a new alarm clock or a new coffeemaker.

At least I won't have to cough up the cash for both new purchases. Looks like a trip to Target tomorrow.

CITB deposit

February 10th, 2009 at 12:18 pm

Stopped by the bank today to deposit some rolled coinage from CITB. Had a full roll of quarters. Adding it to the EF.

$20 Challenge/EF Old Balance: $140.04
CITB deposit: $10.00
------------------------------------------
$20 Challenge/EF New Balance: $150.04

Whoo-hoo! Halfway through my Feb goal of adding $100 to the EF. If I can keep this up, I'll hit $1K before 2010. Big Grin

In other money news, I picked up some groceries today. Spent $40. I got:

*lg package of mozzarella cheese (8 cups)
*lg package of Mexican mix cheese (8 cups)
*package pepperoni
*loaf of bread
*pk of 8 large tortillas
*mushrooms
*buffalo chicken lunch meat
*sliced cheese
*2 lbs of pizza dough
*box of pasta

For dinner this week we'll have chicken enchiladas (already have the chicken and sauce), pasta with shrimp, mushrooms, cheese and tomatoes (already have shrimp, and tommys), homemade calzones (which will actually give us 2 meals each, they are so big), and chicken and veggies with rice (have all of it already). I think that $40 for all that is a great deal, considering it is dinner and lunch for 2 all week. Smile

I did great this week with finding money. I found another dime and 3 pennies. Whoo-hoo! New Pennies on the Sidewalk total: $.98

Splitting among the savings

February 10th, 2009 at 08:40 am

I just got a DD from half.com for $15.05. I also just transferred $15 from my paypal account into my checking. Now, to decide where to out the $30.05. I want to add some to my personal savings. I need to get a move on with my couch fund. But I know I should add more to the EF. So, I guess the best way to figure it out is $10 into each account.

Half.com is a goldmind!

February 8th, 2009 at 08:18 am

The DVDs I listed on half.com last month are selling like hotcakes! Another one sold today, bringing my Ebay Challenge total for February up to $46.12 Smile

$111

February 7th, 2009 at 06:36 pm

My lucky number is 1. At least, it's my luck number for today. Who knows what it will be tomorrow. Smile

Brought home $111 from work today. Had a slew of readings, all long ones, and some great tippers.

It has felt good working these past few days but I am exhausted. Fatigue is kicking my butt right now. I actually fell asleep at one point today when I had a break from clients. I'm so looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow. Smile

Had another great surprise with my Mass health insurance. I think I already posted that my therapy had no copay, which rocks. And I found out yesterday that my MS meds, Copaxone, are only $3 a month!!! This is HUGE since without insurance they are $2K a month.

I really feel lucky with all these financial things turning around for me. But I think as much as it is things getting better, a lot is from the support and encouragement from everyone here. You all have helped me be excited about saving money, selling online, and aiming for NSDs again.

Thanks to you all. I love you guys!!

Lean Mean Selling Machine

February 6th, 2009 at 04:34 pm

Had one of my Ebay sales finish today. Made $11.70 on it. Smile New Feb Ebay total: $40.77

Cleaning out for the move I've found a couple more things to post up there. It is amazing how once I decided to sell as much as possible, I am finding all these things to sell. Before I never would part with anything; now I'm looking around going "Oh, we don't need that! I'll sell it!" Just hope I don't get carried away and decide to sell the BF. LOL

Big Grin

Happy Thursday

February 5th, 2009 at 03:58 pm

Wah-hoo! Another half.com sale. I seem to be selling way more DVDs than books lately, but hey, who cares, right? Smile Another DVD went today for $4.51, bringing my Feb Ebay total to $29.07 Smile

Brought home $55 today, so that also makes it a Happy Thursday.

I forgot to mention it, but I found a dime on the ground the other day. New Pennies on the Sidewalk total: $.85 Smile

I decided to help my EF along I would transfer in 10% of what I made from work this month. That comes out to about $20. The extra $.78 is rounding down to the nearest dollar in my checking. Smile

$20 Challenge/EF Old Balance: $109.21
10% of income: $20.78
------------------------------------------
$20 Challenge/EF New Balance: $129.99

Jinx!

February 5th, 2009 at 07:17 am

I jinxed myseld last night. I was doing a count out of how much cash I had and needed to deposit. I came up to $165 and said to myself "If I can earn $35 at work tonight that would be great because I would have $200 to deposit." I made exactly $35 last night. LOL

It's great because I made the $35, but sheesh, I wish I had said I needed to earm more, like $100! Smile

Picked up another extra shift this week at the store. I'll be there today from 12-6.

On a sad note, a kid names Michael that worked at the store passed away. He was only 18. He had a very aggressive form of cancer. His wake is tonight. He has been around the store for almost 10 years, and everyone loved him. A lot of people from the store have taken this week off to mourn. I am picking up the extra shifts; I never got the chance to meet Michael. He had taken a leave from the store by the time I started there.

Little by Little

February 4th, 2009 at 10:36 am

Little by little money is coming in from online sales. I had another DVD sell today on half.com. My new Feb total for the Ebay Challenge is $24.56 Smile

Little bits coming in from work, too. Picked up an extra shift this week, to that helps.

Going to try rolling up some change from CITB later. Would love to have another buck or two to add to the EF.

In other financial news, I finally got my MassHealth card and used my new health insurance. Before, I had a $15 co-pay for my therapist. Not too bad now that I am seeing her only once a month, but it was tough when I was seeing her every week. But I saw her this week, and with my new insurance, I have NO co-pay! YAY! Smile

I am also getting 3 of my prescriptions filled this week, so we will see how much they cost compared to what they cost with my old health insurance.

Snowy Tuesday

February 3rd, 2009 at 03:49 pm

We are getting another big storm tonight. I just got home and am glad to be here. It's cold and wet and snowy and icky.

It was a quiet day at work today. Had 3 readings, brought home $54. Not bad considering the snow storm.

I bought myself a gift today, too. It's a new ring. Amethyst stone, the triple Goddess symbol, and moons and stars carved into the band. Got a great deal on it' only $25. A V-day gift for myself. Smile

Half.com sale

February 2nd, 2009 at 07:10 am

Another half.com sale today. Brings my Feb Ebay Challenge to $13.25

Still nothing on my Ebay items.

Oh well, still have a few more days left. Smile

No Spender!

February 1st, 2009 at 07:21 pm

I made it! I made today a No Spender! Yay! It was hard...at work my tummy was growling and I really wanted to go to DnD next door for a bagel. But I held out, and instead had yummy crab meat soup and wheat tortillas at home. Smile

Other quick news, I brought home $68 tonight. Only 2 customers, but both were very generous. One gave me a $10 tip and the other gave me a $20 tip. I was definitely being looked out for by my angels tonight!

Before work I managed to list 3 items on Ebay. One is a little porcelain witch-doll, and the other 2 are brand new dressed, both with the tags still on them. I've listed the dresses before, with no bites, but maybe this time something will come of it.

Night all!

Thanks for the good thoughts!

February 1st, 2009 at 08:43 am

Your positive thoughts worked...I brought home $80 last night; exactly how much I needed. Big Grin

Hmmmm, can we do that for tonight, too? LOL Smile

In other news, I sold a DVD on half.com this morning! A great way to start the Feb for the Ebay challenge. Feb total: $4.08

Nothing else going on today. Going to go tot he bookstore because I finished the book I was reading, and all my other books are at the new apartment an hour away. But I still have $$ left on a gift card I got for X-mas, so I won't be spending any money. Then, working again tonight. Going to try to make it a NSD.

Happy Sunday everyone! Smile
