One Step Forward, 12 Steps Back

August 28th, 2008 at 07:05 pm

I should have known. I had a great big deposit placed into my $20 Challenge account, and I find out I was overdrawn on my checking account due to my check not clearing when I thought it did. The result?

I paid a lot of bills and kept getting over limit fees. Pardon my language, but FUCK!

Took the money from my $20 Challenge account to cover it all. Ick.

Old House Fund Balance: $592.94
Withdrawl for fees: - $145.00
--------------------------------------
New House Fund Balance: $447.94

That's a total bummer, sorry to hear that. Is it possible to link the two accounts for overdraft protection so that at least you avoid the fees in case it ever happens again?

have you ever done it before? maybe you could call the bank and speak nicely with them, because i had that (overdrawn) once and i called them (actually i had to call twice - the first guy was just a dickhead anyway) and the second woman i spoke to was very nice and reversed the charge for me.

That sucks! But at least you had the money to cover it, that is the bright side.

I agree with greengirl, it's worth call to the bank to see if they can take off any of the charges. When I had my mix up, I called once and nobody called me back. Then I went to the bank on my lunch break, and they had to call me back later to say that couldn't do anything. It's a bunch of bull, but I didn't want to change banks for the remaining 6 months that we'll be here. Maybe your call will go better! Smile

If this is a rare occurance, you should definately call the bank and plead your case. Politely explain what happened and ask if the can reverse...and dont stop at the first no. If you do not get a reversal and you have gotten to the head of the class...ask if they will reverse 1/2. The worst that can happen is you spend some time telling your story with no luck...but I am guessing you will get at least part of this reversed. If not, it may be time to change banks.

I agree with the others. You should def. call the bank and see if they will negotiate with you at all on this.

Sorry to hear that but I am happy you had the money to pay it. Murphy will challenge you for awhile but you'll pull through, you always do Smile
