Work is Over

May 22nd, 2008 at 02:35 pm

Well, yesterday was my last day at work. Frown I will miss it there. I really liked the people, loved the work and they paychecks were great, too! Hopefully they will get more work soon an can bring me back. Until then, I'm on the hunt.

Of course, now that I am home I have a million things I want to get done here. No relaxing for me! Smile Today I need to:

1. Register for unemployment

2. Deposit my last paycheck, which I got this morning

3. Refill some of my meds while I still have my health insurance

4. Call HR from my old job to see what they took a June health isurance payment out when my health insurance ends May 31st

5. Fill up the car with gas before prices get any higher

6. Budget out this last paycheck

7. Pay some bills

8. Call HR Block re: a possible refund check from taxes two years ago

And then there are just all the little things I want to get done over the next week or two, like take some clothes to the local consignment shop, clean out for a yard sale in a few weeks, finish unpacking from when we moved, etc. It'll be a busy couple of weeks! Smile

Sounds like a good plan. Hubby is still unemployed and has a couple of interviews this week. That unemployment has really helped us out.

Whoa. It seems like you just started that job. Did you know ahead of time it was going to be of limited duration? You are an editor or proof-reader, no? Is it typical to have to string together jobs serially in your line of work? (I'd be so nervous about having to scramble for jobs all the time.)

Sage..good luck to hubbys job interviews!

Joan...I strted it the beginning of January...I knew it was a 5 month contract job. I was hoping to get hired on full time, but they just don't have any work right now. Hopefully they will get some soon and bring me back. Yup, I'm an editor/proofreader. Usually I would just get a permanent job, but this past one was too good to pass up. I'm looking for a permanent one now. Smile
